iCCAN Certification Program- Revised Schedule and Registration Links Are Live

Get comfortable with using your videoconferencing equipment.

VC01 Desktop is for sites using Polycom software for video conferencing. VC01 Classroom is for sites using LifeSize classroom for their video conferencing needs.

The VC02-VC07 training series is for Polycom and LifeSize users.

To complete this training, sites will need access to a computer and the Internet as well as video conferencing equipment. Review the following course description(s) for details.

VC 01 Equipment Orientation - Classroom

Course Description

This interactive training course introduces you to equipment and software capabilities along with basic videoconferencing (VC) scenarios. You will learn about basic control functions of the equipment and camera.

Key videoconferencing etiquette tips will be shared, and you will be given guidelines for setting up a videoconferencing space.


You will also make a point-to-point and multi-point call using your VC equipment.

Target Audience

New users to videoconferencing equipment and software.

Length of Instruction Hours

5 hours (Two 2.5 hour sessions) – Classroom Equipment

Practical Experience Required for Certificate

  • Attend two VC knowledge sharing sessions
  • Ability to operate equipment (turn on, adjust
    camera, set presets, make calls)
 

VC 02 Conferencing Setup - Classroom

Course Description

Building on the knowledge gained in VC 01
Equipment Orientation Training you will learn essential
videoconferencing (VC) etiquette, understanding
various registration processes, how to schedule a
virtual meeting, prepare and implement a VC session
along with basic trouble shooting.

Target Audience


Participants are familiar with basic understanding of
videoconferencing equipment and need to learn
how to setup a VC session.

VC 03 Application Conferencing Setup - Classroom

Course Description

In VC 02 training participants learned how to
setup a videoconferencing (VC) session. VC 03 will
explore different applications that can be used to
share information with other sites and the various
terminologies associated with videoconferencing.
Participants will also gain knowledge on other
peripheral technologies that can be used with VC.

Target Audience

Participants familiar with videoconferencing setup and wanting to use other technologies to enhance the learning experience during a VC session.

  • Attend two VC knowledge sharing sessions
  • Ability to incorporate multimedia practices
    (connecting, identify VC friendly presentations)
 

VC 04 Site Facilitation

Course Description

Participants will learn about the key roles and
responsibilities of a site facilitator. Learning to interpret
the logistics of a videoconferencing (VC) session and
learning techniques of how to motivate, manage and
engage session participants.

Target Audience

Participants that have knowledge of VC equipment
and will be setting up sessions or managing people
that will be setting up sessions.

Length of Instruction Hours

2 hours

Practical Experience Required for Certificate

Attend two VC events managed by iCCAN, initiate
a VC session jointly with other sites within the iCCAN
network and initiate a session jointly with iCCAN
support or independently.

  • Attend two VC knowledge sharing sessions
  • Ability to facilitate a VC session as a lead
    site and a participating site
  • Familiar with the Roles and Responsibilities of
    a host site
 

VC 05 Marketing and Cost Recovery

Course Description

Participants in this course will learn to look for
opportunities to market and sell the use of their
videoconferencing (VC) equipment. How to get
involved in joint marketing initiatives, what the costs
for use of the equipment and how to price out the
use of a session. Discussion on creating a plan in order
to obtain cost recovery of your equipment and being
prepared for future maintenance and upgrades.

Target Audience

Site decision makers and individuals implementing
the use of videoconferncing will especially
benefit from this workshop. Any staff involved in
videoconferencing will also gain an understanding of
costs involved and to be conscience of costs related
to videoconferencing.

Practical Experience Required for Certificate

Attend two VC events managed by iCCAN and
document a sample budget for a VC event and
determine whether it will be cost recoverable,
profitable or run at a deficit

  • Attend two VC knowledge sharing sessions
  • Develop their fee model and submit to iCCAN
  • Submit to iCCAN a list of marketing initiatives
    for a VC event
 

VC 06 Content Providers

Course Description

Participants will learn to modify existing training
resources to present using videoconferencing (VC)
technologies. Learning to set up the lead and remote
classrooms. Understanding the roles and
responsibilities of a site facilitator, moderator and
technical support persons and scheduling a session.

In the 1 hour Advanced course a personalize
consultation which focuses on developing core
teaching competencies and how it relates to VC.
Instructors and department leads will gain insight and
have access to a VC trainer who can support the
modification of existing course content so that it is
appropriate for an integrated e-learning platform.


Target Audience

This training session is for instructors, presenters,
facilitators, teachers, coaches and mentors.

Course Description

Preparing videoconferencing (VC) administrators
and coordinators for iCCAN’s final exam in order
to receive Certification. Learners will go through an
online self-assessment, covering material from all six workshops: Equipment Orientation,
Technical Conferencing Setup, Application, Conferencing Setup, Site Facilitating, Marketing and Cost Recovery and Content Providers.

After completing the online assessment, learners can schedule a one-on-one personalized review with iCCAN's training team and, if necessary, develop a personal training plan before challenging the final exam for certification.

Target Audience

This course is for participants wanting to challenge
the final exam without going through all the courses
or those that have completed the courses and want
to check to ensure they are ready for the final exam
required for Certification.

Online Self-Assessment: Approximately 30 minutes

One-on-One Review: 30 minutes - 1 hour

Course Description

These sessions are primarily intended to accomodate those who would like to participate in VC 06 during working hours, or those who cannot accomodate any of the other scheduled times. You may also wish to just take one module as a refresher.  We recommend, if you are an experienced VC end-user, that you start by taking the online VC 07 Self-Assessment Quiz before registering for Training by Request.
