Distance learning with a personal touch

Map of Alberta showing connected communities

iCCAN (Innovative Communities Connecting & Networking) is a groundbreaking project that creates access to learning through networked videoconference sites across Alberta.

Creating efficiencies & innovation:

Educational programming, training, and networking opportunities through iCCAN are helping more Albertans acquire knowledge and skills, without having to travel long distances or live away from their families.

iCCAN's growing network of videoconference sites is proving to be a valuable community resource for an increasing number of Albertans.

The three partners behind iCCAN are Community Learning Network, Literacy Alberta and Volunteer Alberta.

Great progress continues with Innovative Communities Connecting and Networking (iCCAN).  At the end of February 2010, a total of 68 communities were part of the iCCAN network with a total of 114 units in place. This is a remarkable achievement, as iCCAN prepares to reach its two year phase milestone on March 31, 2010 and prepares for its next phase of work.

In the months ahead, iCCAN will continue to collaborate with communities to leverage the power and possibilities of videoconferencing.
